I live in the heart of the Boreal Forest. An endless ocean of trees in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. My story concerns the death of a local Cree Indian man named John Trembley. John lived in and around La Ronge for most of his life always insisting on living on his terms away from people. His hermit lifestyle was a concern for people who had his well being in mind so I was among a small handfull of people who would check up on him occasionally by treking to his secluded cabin. Death will touch our lives many times and it was inevitable that John's end came one summer night. I hadn't seen him for two days so at my employers request I made the trip with a colleage. When he didn't answer his door I forced it open and found him lying peacefully in his bed. One touch confirmed he was in "Rigour Mortis" and was gone from this world. I remember the smells of his cabin while the reality set in of his death. A combination of burnt wood, food odurs, body sweat and such. Not the most pleasant smell you'll encounter but you would remember it. In the months that followed after his funeral I went about my business occasionally pondering John's demise and reflecting on how he met his lonely end and it was on "Canada Day" our national holiday that I was with my wife giving a colleague a ride to his home and then back to town. While we were waiting I engaged my wife in conversation on paranormal activity, specifically on how "mediums" will look for non etheric indicators of spiritual presence. As I was saying to her if you thought departed family members were around you might use your sense of smell, do you smell your mothers perfume she always wore? Your Father's smelly cigars? It was right on the cusp of these words that a very familiar smell manifested in the vehicle we were sitting in. It was John's cabin, There was no doubt about it. Though this sounds convenient my life has been filled with many amazing coincidental moments like this. Not long ago an audience with a powerful psychic confirmed what I had learned through personal experience many years previously. I have gift to effect change in events around me and as I get older its getting more powerful. I' m currently working on a far more lucrative project but that story is still being written. If it comes to fruition I will have one hell of a story to tell you. My experience with John is a good demonstration of how to count on your everyday senses as well as your six sense to detect spiritual presence.

Washte' Native Americans (Indigenous People) have an affinity with the earth. Not all of them have it, but the ones who choose to walk away from society and away from what society usually brings us, have a tenancy to walk again in the manner in which the elder teach us.

If what you are doing comes to fruition, I would love to hear your story. It sounds fascinating. Thank you for sharing this one.
